New Picture Teases Theories on Luke Cage & Jessica Jones’ MCU Return
Over the course of Phase 4, the MCU is becoming more expansive than ever, finally integrating characters who initially appeared in Marvel TV's old Netflix episodes from a few years ago. In the same week, Charlie Cox's Daredevil appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin was revealed to be Hawkeye's main antagonist in Episodes 5 and 6. Now, Netflix's biggest power couple, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, could be next in line.
When asked about the potential of these two heroes' solo series being revived and made canon within the MCU, Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige cited his trademark slogan "never say never."
Furthermore, given how much fans adored Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter's portrayals of the two characters, their inclusion in the canon MCU cannot be ruled out.
In March 2022, Ritter stoked speculation about a possible comeback to her role as Jessica Jones by posting photos of herself sporting an eerily Jessica Jones-like attire for an unclear cause.
Now, three years after her last appearance on Netflix, she's returned to social media with another photograph that's already sparked new speculation about a possible return.
MCU Rumors Survive Thanks to Jessica Jones
Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter shared a selfie of herself and Luke Cage star Mike Colter on her Instagram stories, raising speculation of a possible MCU reunion.
This image sparked a lot of discussion on Twitter and Reddit, with followers speculating about what the two could be up to.
With the message "EVERYONE WAKE UP-," @Pollos Hernandy shared the photograph on Twitter, urging supporters to pay attention to the situation.
In a caption with the photo, @BuhardiMarvel used the two actors' characters, expressing optimism that they will both return to their MCU roles:
"Jessica Jones shared a selfie of herself and Luke Ca... Krysten Ritter accidentally shared a photo with Mike Colter. It's worthwhile to fantasise. I hope they both return."
@MacaMaida93 questioned whether the two actors appearing in the same photo was a dream come true. The meme also featured a banner for Alias Investigation from the Jessica Jones series, as well as a question about what's blurred out on Ritter's shirt: "Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter
Do my wishes come true and do I return?
Krysten WHAT WAS THE TOPIC OF YOUR T-SHIRT?"
@bxrzrxk shared a photograph of Ritter and Colter with the caption "I scent that tiny things are about to come in Echo" to highlight how the Echo series is presently filming.
As fans speculated about what would happen with Ritter and Colter, many comments arose on a Reddit post containing the photo.
User u/Rotasevian repurposed Jeremy Renner's memorable phrase from Avengers: Endgame's first scene, pleading with Marvel to "don't do that... don't give me hope."
u/Nahim33 pointed noted a blurred pink sticker on Ritter's shirt, passionately questioning what the actress was trying to hide in the photo: "What was she thinking when she blurred that sticker? What are you trying to hide, Krysten?"
u/Nahim33 believes Ritter is filming new material for the next Echo series, and speculates that Colter is doing the same.
"I'm quite sure she's going for Echo rn."

When Are Jessica Jones and Luke Cage Coming Back?
Fans are eagerly awaiting the day when the six episodes that make up the Defenders epic are all available on Disney+, and the key actors from those shows appear alongside the Avengers in the MCU tale. After Cox and D'Onofrio kicked off the changeover at the close of last year, Ritter and Colter appear to be the next in line.
Some fans speculate that Ritter may appear as early as August with the release of She-Hulk, allowing Jessica to meet with one or two of the MCU's most notable superhero lawyers.

Add in a possible Daredevil reunion and possibly Colter's Luke Cage in the upcoming Echo series, and the anticipation for projects like these to debut on Disney+ only grows.
While nothing has been confirmed for Jessica Jones or Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, images like this one just serve to fuel speculation about where they might return to their heroic roles. For the time being, supporters will have to wait for further official information on the subject as Phase 4 progresses.
Echo is presently filming in anticipation of its Disney+ release in 2023. Meanwhile, She-Hulk will premiere on Netflix on August 17.
