Ms. Marvel Star Iman Vellani Calls Shah Rukh Khan’s DDLJ ‘Sexist’ and ‘Outdated’

Ms. Marvel has been tearing it up since the debut episode of Marvel's newest superhero was released on Disney+ last week. The show is set in New Jersey and follows Pakistani-American girl Kamala Khan, who is played by the energetic Iman Vellan. The character is a first for Marvel, as it is the first superhero film to feature a character with South Asian roots. Along with all of the heroic antics, the show looks into the lives of South Asians in North America, with plenty of cultural representation. As a result, the first episode of the series was jam-packed with Bollywood movie and song references.
