Black Panther has been voted the best superhero movie of all time, and Zack Snyder fans are not happy

Image
Oscar-winning Marvel outing Black Panther was voted the best superhero movie of all time. And Zack Snyder fans are not happy. Rolling Stone's list of the 50 best superhero movies was definitely controversial, with Black Panther coming in at number one while it was placed in the top 50. But that's not why fans are shaking their heads. No, when the list was first shared, Zack Snyder's Justice League was at the top, and the publication shared the list in reverse order. Probably by accident. While Zack Snyder's Justice League now has a very dedicated fan base, the first Top 10 included such ... questionable comic book movies as 2007's Ghost Rider , 1975's Infra-Man , the first Thor and 2010's Megamind . Now that the list is set in the right direction, the actual top ten makes a lot more sense, with Black Panther leading a pack that includes the likes of Spider-Man 2, the first Superman from 1978, and Christopher Nolan's seminal Batman film. The Dark Knig...

Marvel Just Won their First Golden Globe for MCU Movie Acting

Image
Marvel Studios' most recent MCU blockbuster helped the studio win an award in an acting category at the 80th Golden Globes for the first time. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, one of the best-reviewed films in recent memory, brought Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, and Danai Gurira to the front of Marvel Studios' Phase 4 schedule in 2022. Marvel had high hopes for Black Panther 2, which it released in early November, to win some recognition during the 2023 awards season. This is something that the MCU has largely missed out on over the years. With the upcoming awards season, Black Panther 2 has already made history in one way. Thanks to Angela Bassett's portrayal of Queen Ramonda in the film, Black Panther 2 became the first MCU film to ever receive an acting nomination at the Golden Globes. And right now, Bassett is continuing to raise the bar for the MCU, taking the series to new heights in terms of critical acclaim that it hasn't experienced in its nearly 15-year histo...

Dave Bautista Says Goodbye to Marvel Drax Role

Image
Dave Bautista is already saying goodbye to his Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Drax ahead of the threequel, even though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is anticipated to be the final adventure for this iteration of the Guardians team. As Drax, Bautista has long hinted that he will leave the MCU. The actor previously made a suggestion that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is "probably going to be the end" of the story arc for his character and that it will be his last appearance under the terms of his Marvel contract. The WWE Legend also discussed how portraying Drax affected his life in an Instagram post that included the hashtag "#GoodbyeDrax." Dave Bautista Bids Goodbye to Guardians of the Galaxy Dave Bautista discussed his role as Drax in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy in the most recent GQ interview, and he also expressed his acceptance of the possibility that this will be his final depiction of the character. Black Panther 2 Becomes Biggest Female-Led Superhero Movie of All-Time In US

Image
When Black Panther: Wakanda Forever wrapped up the MCU's 2022 theatrical schedule, it set a new box office record. In addition to establishing Letitia Wright's Shuri as the next Black Panther following Chadwick Boseman's tragic passing, Wakanda Forever boosted Marvel Studios' illustrious box office history. Fans flocked to the theatres in droves to watch how the MCU's Phase 4 story concluded as Marvel put all of its effort into making this sequel the best it could be, giving it the largest budget ever for a movie with a Black lead. Black Panther 2 came in just behind Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when examining the entire 2022 cinema landscape, and it almost made the top five highest-grossing films of the year. The Wakandan sequel has now made a new imprint in the United States as female-led superhero films finally earn their rightful place in Hollywood, significantly reducing the scope of the discussion. MCU Can Now be Sued for Misleading Trailers

Image
A recent court judgement issued on Wednesday clarifies that Marvel Studios, along with all other Hollywood film studios, may now be held liable for false or misleading trailers. Movie trailers are now employed not only as promotional tools but also as standalone goods that generate buzz and enthusiasm. The MCU is no exception, as its trailers spark intense fan speculation and receive a tremendous amount of fan reaction. More than 24 million people have watched the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer since it first debuted, which was less than a month ago. Marvel trailers haven't always been purposefully deceptive, but they have occasionally featured footage that wasn't included in the final edit of the movie or that was altered to remove spoilers. The Battle of Wakanda was prominently featured in the Avengers: Infinity War teaser, even though the Hulk never fully changed in the film beyond the opening scene. In the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, a scene containing Tobey Ma...

It’s Morbin’ Time: Morbius actually became Netflix’s No. 1 streamed movie

Image
How was Netflix's Morbius No. 1? Should it have been? It makes sense, believe it or not. Let's be upfront and honest. Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters suffered another significant setback with Morbius. The film did poorly at the box office, but it still made its money back. It's hardly surprising given that it's a comic book movie. For a comic book movie to lose money, it would have to be among the worst ever made. One of the lowest rated comic book movies ever, Dark Phoenix nonetheless made its money back. Related: Thanos' Maker Guesses Which of His Characters Could Join the MCU Next Due to a meme, Sony attempted a theatre re-release. a meme that ironically made fun of the film. Sadly, they believed that people genuinely wanted to see it. Not only was that a blunder, but the film also debuted to disastrous reviews. IGN stated that it only made $289 per theatre out of the 1,037 locations where it was presented. " Despite all the criticism, the film unex...

Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot Open to MCU Movie Role

Ever since she made her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, Gal Gadot has been a mainstay of the DC Extended Universe. Since then, the actress has made multiple appearances in movies produced by DC, including two Wonder Woman solo movies and the renowned Justice League movies. Gadot has subsequently moved to Disney, where she will play the Evil Queen Grimhilde in the live-action adaptation of the beloved animated fairy tale Snow White, in addition to playing a significant role in the larger DCEU. She-Hulk Star Addresses Sexist Backlash, Says Show Will Challenge Marvel Fans

Image
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law got off to a rocky start to its public debut. People's reactions to the series' debut trailer were, to put it mildly, divided, with some criticising what they perceived as poor CGI for the show. Many people were a little uncertain about what to anticipate when the show premieres in a few days as a result of this. However, it begs the question: How much of that criticism was sincere? And to what extent was a sexist mob responsible for it? Talking about those kind of people is never enjoyable, but they do exist, particularly in the world of pop culture. And to make matters worse, they frequently have some of the loudest voices in crowds.  Related: Mark Ruffalo Defends the MCU By Criticizing Star Wars Should viewers begin preparing themselves for some of that poisonous blowback when the show premieres? Mark Ruffalo Defends the MCU By Criticizing Star Wars

Image
Despite having previously said that he would love joining The Mandalorian trilogy alongside Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin) and the always-popular Grogu, Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), a favourite of MCU fans, has suddenly slammed the Star Wars world while praising Kevin Feige's Marvel films. Related: The Quantity of Marvel films Makes Each one Less Special, Says Lindelof When asked if he believed Marvel Studios was producing too much material between its film slate and its always expanding roster of Disney+ Original programmes, the actor responded as follows: "I understand that these things run their course and then something else comes along. But the thing Marvel has done well is that, inside the MCU, just as they do with comic books, they let a director or an actor sort of recreate each piece to their own style, their likeness. Marvel generally lets them bring that to the material." Ruffalo continued: "If you watch a 'Star Wars,' you're pretty much going ...

The Quantity of Marvel films Makes Each one Less Special, Says Lindelof

Image
According to Lost creator and MCU supporter Damon Lindelof, Marvel should create fewer films. The 49-year-old director gave Vulture an interview in which he outlined his reasons for believing that Marvel should produce fewer movies to create a more memorable experience. He declared, "This is a business. "It's a industry." And if you produce a few excellent Marvel films, the natural reaction is to say, "We need to produce more Marvel films, and we need to grow this." I'm thinking internally, 'Wow, I wish they made less because it would make each one that came out a little bit more special. But I watch all of them… People don't want things to end. I do." It's challenging to make an argument against it, especially in light of what Marvel has produced this year. John Boyega Rejects Marvel for Now: I Want ‘Fresh Ideas’ and You Can’t Top ‘Iron Man’ Anyway

Image
It's difficult to go two or three months without coming across an online rumour stating John Boyega will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A 2021 rumour said Boyega was involved in the "Captain Marvel" sequel "The Marvels," while an unverified story from May claimed Boyega had already shot a secret Marvel role. In a recent interview with Men's Health, Boyega has dispelled those claims, claiming that he is not now interested in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Boyega stated of Marvel movies, "That's not in the picture for me right now." "I want to take sophisticated actions... Thor: Love and Thunder Becomes Least-Rated Thor Film on Rotten Tomatoes

Image
More than any other MCU franchise, the Thor one is characterised by ups and downs. Thor's sequel, Thor: The Dark World, fared considerably worse than its predecessor, failing to meet up to the standards of its MCU rivals, marking a new low for the franchise. The third movie in the series, Thor: Ragnarok, was directed by Taika Waititi, who brought fresh hope to the franchise with his special blend of humour and imagination. Related: Jessica Jones Highlights Sexist Treatment Of Female Marvel Heroes Fans anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder, Waititi's second MCU picture, to be on par with or even better than that. However, following its publication, many people felt let down by the sequel due to what they perceived as a lack of tone balance and a waste of characters and plotlines. The movie has suffered as a result, both critically and commercially. Thor: Love and Thunder has already broken a new record for the franchise, and not in a positive manner, despite having been out for les...

Jessica Jones Highlights Sexist Treatment Of Female Marvel Heroes

Image
Jessica Jones, one of Marvel's most powerful female characters, considers how poorly female superheroes are treated in the society she inhabits. Jessica Jones is not typically the first female superhero that comes to mind. She isn't as eye-catching as Captain Marvel or She-Hulk. With the exception of her time as Jewel, Jess prefers a leather jacket and a cup of coffee than the conventional cape and tights. Jessica Jones offers a perceptive commentary on the present condition of vigilantism and what it means to be a woman in that milieu in Marvel's The Variants. Ten years have passed since Jones was under Kilgrave's, a.k.a. the Purple Man, control when The Variants takes place. Jessica is prepared to retire from crimefighting now that she is married to Luke Cage and has a daughter. The first victim of Kilgrave, Maria Snyder, who is accused of killing her family, makes an attempt to deny responsibility in court. Unfortunately, Jessica is the only one who has an understand...

At the San Diego Comic-Con in 2022, Zachary Levi teases a significant Marvel-DC crossover while discussing his thoughts on facing Chris Hemsworth's one and only Thor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Henry Cavill was unable to be found at SDCC 22, despite everyone's excitement over the reports of his and Superman's unexpected entrance. Ryan Reynolds calls out 'traumatic' 'Bambi' ahead of R-rated 'Deadpool' release on Disney+

Image
Ryan Reynolds has a beef with some of the cherished classics already available to stream from the House of Mouse. On Friday, the two Deadpool movies will disrupt Disney+'s family-friendly programming as the first R-rated films on the platform. "some Disney movies [that] should already be rated R for irreversible trauma," Reynolds satirized on Twitter. Reynolds displayed four limited, red rating cards for four movies that are simple to understand when taken in context.  "The following beloved animated classic should NOT be approved for all audiences be they minors, miners, or bashful," the first disclaimer states. It has a R rating "Breaking and entering. Borderline polyandry. Pretty sure those diamonds aren't cruelty-free." So, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and while the "breaking and entering" is entirely legitimate, we never learn the dwarves' marital status. Of course, if it's just seven sinful men, then maybe we should bum...

Jessica Alba claims Marvel movies are 'still quite Caucasian'

Image
The MCU has been criticised for being overly white by Jessica Alba, who played Sue Storm in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has drawn criticism for being "very Caucasian" from a founding member of Fox's Fantastic Four film franchise. The MCU's lack of diversity was discussed by Jessica Alba, who played Sue Storm/Invisible Woman in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Despite the franchise's widespread popularity, Alba believes that little has changed since the early 2000s, before Marvel Studios was founded.  Related: ‘Disney’s Gone Very Conservative’: The Russo Brothers Explain Why Disney Hurts MCU Phase 4 Movies and Shows "Even if you look at the Marvel movies, which are the largest influencer of fantasy and what's going on in entertainment right now since it's sort of the family thing, it's still largely Caucasian...

Thor: Love and Thunder Suffers One of MCU's Worst Box Office Drops

Image
Taika Waititi's interpretation of the God of Thunder was a smash hit when he first appeared in the MCU with Thor: Ragnarok. So it came as no surprise that he would return for a fourth time to take Chris Hemsworth on another wild and outrageous ride. What was surprising was that Love and Thunder didn't perform as well as the director's first outing. While the initial reactions were unusually positive, when the reviews came in, the response was generally lukewarm. In fact, the film received a B+ CinemaScore. While that appears to be perfectly reasonable, it is the second lowest for a Marvel Studios film ever—Ragnarok received an A in comparison. ‘Disney’s Gone Very Conservative’: The Russo Brothers Explain Why Disney Hurts MCU Phase 4 Movies and Shows

One of Marvel's most prominent directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, explains how Disney is to blame for the company's current state. With Marvel's recent movies and shows being panned by critics and audiences alike, it's been a long time since MCU fans saw something spectacular being produced by the studio. Phase 4 of the MCU does not look promising, and the quality of the content produced has also declined. She-Hulk Star Tatiana Maslany Was Initially Nervous About Joining Marvel

Image
After Ms. Marvel and Thor: Love and Thunder made their MCU debuts, the next live-action project on the horizon is She-Hulk: Attorney at Law for Disney+. She-Hulk, which stars Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, has been described as a legal comedy in which an ordinary lawyer is tasked with defending superheroes in court while also dealing with her own smashing transformation. Maslany, of course, will not be alone. Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Tim Roth's Abomination, Jameela Jamil as the villainous Titania, and a number of rumoured cameos, including Daredevil, will join her. However, in the run-up to its August 17 release, the conversation surrounding She-Hulk has been, to say the least, interesting. Aside from the backlash over She-CGI, Hulk's some were taken aback by the content and tone of the Disney+ show's trailer, implying that this MCU Disney+ series will be unlike any other.
