Taika Waititi Forgot Natalie Portman was in Star Wars and offered her Role in His Upcoming Star Wars Film

Taika Waititi, the director of Thor: Love and Thunder, has revealed that he is collaborating with Disney on a new Star Wars movie that will deepen the mythos of the well-known space property.

The director has always said that he is now working on the script for his movie, which would focus on brand-new characters from the series. Waititi has scoured Hollywood for some performers to join his cast even though he doesn't yet have a complete script. However, it appears that he asked the incorrect questions.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, director Taika Waititi discussed his conversation with Natalie Portman about bringing her back for Thor: Love and Thunder after she was unexpectedly left off of the director's first outing as the God of Thunder in Thor: Ragnarok.

Although the filmmaker said it wasn't difficult to persuade her to come back, he made a mistake later by asking whether she would be interested in playing a part in his Star Wars movie even though she is already a part of the franchise.

"What will you do next, Natalie questioned me? I said, "I'm attempting to work on something Star Wars-related. Have you ever wished you could appear in a Star Wars film? I've appeared in Star Wars films, she claimed. Those are the ones I overlooked."

For those who are not aware with the history and universe of Star Wars, Natalie Portman made her debut in the prequels as Padmé Amidala, also known as the Queen of Naboo. She made her film debut alongside Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker in George Lucas' Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. She falls in love with Anakin during the prequels, and she dies while giving birth to their twins, Luke and Leia, in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

With Natalie already in the Star Wars universe, it appears that Waititi may have to settle for another actress. And, based on the list of celebrities with whom Waititi has collaborated over the years, he doesn't appear to be short on options.
