How did Marvel change Zombie Avengers from the comics in Disney Plus’ What If…?

In Disney Plus' What if...?, Marvel has devoted an entire episode to the Zombie Avengers. The majority of zombified stories revolve around a few non-infected people fighting zombies for survival. This animated series, on the other hand, depicts the Mighty Avengers as half-dead flesh eaters.
The MCU's zombies are unquestionably scary, but when it comes to comic book zombies, nothing beats the dread effect they provide. As seen on What if...?, we'll talk about how comic book Zombies differ from Zombie Avengers. So, without further ado, let's get right into the meat of the article.
In comparison to the Zombie Avengers, Marvel Zombies are more terrifying.

The comic book Zombies are supposed to have originated on Earth-2149, with an infected character arriving on the planet as the source of the infection. The plot of What if...?, on the other hand, follows a completely different pattern. Janet van Dyne is exposed to Quantum illness during her tenure in the Quantum Realm in the Disney Plus show. She infects her husband, Hank Pym, after transforming into a zombie, and when she returns to the Earthly plane, the Ant-Man is the first person to come into contact with her. Beginning with Ant-Man, the entire United States is infected within a few hours. The Earth's mightiest heroes banded together, but this time they couldn't do anything since they had turned into zombies.

Even after being infected, Zombies have been shown to posses amazing powers and intelligence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What If...?, for example, depicts Zombie Doctor Strange casting spells and Zombie Scarlet Witch wielding the same power as her human form. In the same way that the MCU's zombies are aware of their environment, comic book zombies are as well.

In the comics, the infected Avengers retained their intelligence, but their craving for human flesh made them even more dangerous. Infected Spider-Man, for example, couldn't control his hunger and assaulted Mary Jane and Aunt May. That's something we haven't seen in the Zombies episodes of What If.
Although the MCU's zombies are believed to be on a galactic scale, the original comic book Zombies are nothing short of nightmares. That's because Galactus and everything else on the planet may be eaten in the comic versions. So, comic book zombies are powerful enough to defeat a cosmic entity, yet the MCU's Zombies were nowhere near that level of power.

It's difficult to dispute that What If: Zombie Avengers laid the stage for future films. For example, following What If, we've seen zombies in Disney Plus' Moon Knight. In the Multiverse of Madness, we also saw Doctor Strange's Zombie form.
The success of Zombie Avengers prompted the studios to announce Marvel Zombies, a What If spin-off. As the title suggests, the show will delve deeper into the zombie story. However, there is currently no official release date for the show.
