Morbius also flops on the 2nd cinema attempt!
It's no longer Morbin' time! Morbius, Sony's Spider-Man spin-off, was released in over 1000 cinemas across the United States, yet it failed to create an impact yet again! With a domestic total of $73.6 million, the Jared Leto-led superhero film earned additional $85,000 on Friday. According to Forbes, the $270 per-theater average is the lowest among the top twenty.
Sony attempted to cash in on the online meme frenzy that the film sparked. Leto himself used Twitter to further entice the audience with a meme-inspired video. The Oscar winner reads the script for Morbius' sequel, titled 'It's Morbin' Time,' in this brief video. The cover page, however, reveals the satire since it names scriptwriter 'Bartholomew Cubbins,' who happens to be a fictional page and the hero of two Dr. Seuss children's novels. However, none of the efforts appear to be fruitful, raising worries about the possibility of a sequel.
Both the audience and the critics panned Morbius. It had a Cinemascore of C+ and a Tomatometer score of 17%. Due to the epidemic, the film was delayed more than a half-dozen times. The game-changing effect of Spider-Man: No Way Home also spiralled the film into reshoots and plot gaps. Furthermore, after No Way Home brought three generations of Spider-Man and his villains together, the film fails to establish a specific timeline.

"First and foremost, Morbius: not as horrible as everyone is making it out to be," actor Al Madrigal, who played FBI agent Alberto 'Al' Rodriguez, later told ComicBook about the film. Sure, there were issues, and they diced it up a lot. I had some wonderful lines in that movie that were removed. In that thing, I was butchered. That's what I believe they did. They just had so much time to muck around with it because of COVID. They played with it a lot."
Leto stars alongside Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Micheal Keaton as Vulture, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, and Tyres Gibson as Simon Stroud in Morbiuscast.
Morbius' summary is as follows:
Oscar winner Jared Leto turns into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius, one of the most interesting and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters. Dr. Morbius, who is critically ill with a rare blood ailment and is committed to spare others from the same destiny, takes a risky gamble. While it appears to be a huge success at first, a darkness within him emerges. Will good triumph over evil, or will Morbius succumb to his strange new desires?
