The Boys Caused Amazon To Set Up A Standards And Practices Department

Standards & Practices is a fancy term for "the folks in the corporation that make sure we don't do anything unlawful or put anything on the broadcast that is too much" in the majority of media organisations. Ask Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch, who recently shared a montage of complaints he received from S&P. The Walt Disney Company, for example, has a notorious "S&P" to ensure that content on certain channels is family appropriate. Evidently missing the memo, for a few years Amazon Prime Video didn't even have a Standards & Practices division before launching The Boys.

"Can you guys come in? was the call, which I can still clearly recall. As a result of us, we must establish a Standards & Practices department "Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, said TV Line. "It was Season 1, and after that, they may have had trouble with another show. I'll take pride in the fact that I was instrumental in establishing their Standards division." Kripke continued by discussing certain elements they wanted to include in the most recent "Herogasm" episode and how they were unable to work with S&P to make them happen, particularly with The Deep's significant octopus sequence.

Because you're not meant to depict people f-king animals, Kripke continued,

"The discussion of that scene and how we pulled off that sequence actually sparked a lot of alarm bells at a lot of different levels at Amazon. "But I always said in my pitch to them that it was so ridiculous that it belonged in a Farrelly Brothers film. It is difficult to describe it as prurient bestiality. It is absurd. I don't even think octopi have orifices down there, to my knowledge. Therefore, there was a lot of talk about things like what the odds are, what we can do, and what we can get away with."

The final two episodes of The Boys' third season will air over the following two weeks, bringing the total number of episodes available to six. The new season of the programme is currently tied with season two as having the highest rating of all the episodes, with a 97 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a "Certified Fresh" designation. Despite the positive reviews the programme has received from critics, many viewers have been trashing it online for both its content and the fact that it still releases new episodes every week.
