The Quantity of Marvel films Makes Each one Less Special, Says Lindelof
According to Lost creator and MCU supporter Damon Lindelof, Marvel should create fewer films.
The 49-year-old director gave Vulture an interview in which he outlined his reasons for believing that Marvel should produce fewer movies to create a more memorable experience.
He declared, "This is a business. "It's a industry." And if you produce a few excellent Marvel films, the natural reaction is to say, "We need to produce more Marvel films, and we need to grow this." I'm thinking internally, 'Wow, I wish they made less because it would make each one that came out a little bit more special. But I watch all of them… People don't want things to end. I do." It's challenging to make an argument against it, especially in light of what Marvel has produced this year.

With the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November, 2022 has already been the year of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. If we count TV shows, we've already seen Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel, and this month we still have She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special to look forward to.
Seven MCU projects in one year is a considerable amount. And there are no signs that Marvel will slow down with its future Phase 5 and 6 slate. "It's always going to be hard because once you've got someone's attention, you want to keep it," said Lindelof calling the idea of potentially letting go of something as "antithetical" to the way we're wired.

Lindelof understands the larger picture, of course. But it's difficult not to concur with him.
Lindelof continued, "I don't begrudge them the right to keep it going," added Lindelof. "I've made prequels and sequels and reboots, so I can't be a hypocrite and say, 'God, come up with an original idea.' Meanwhile, I'm making two Star Trek movies and Prometheus."
