Avengers: Endgame Directors Joe and Anthony Russo Are Not Directing The Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars

The directors of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Joe and Anthony Russo, will not be helming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars, despite it being a dream project.

The Russo Brothers' involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for the upcoming two Avengers movies was a topic of discussion when Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, spoke to Deadline following Marvel's San Diego Comic-Con 2022 panel.

"They are not connected to it," Feige added. "They have been, I think, very direct about that. We love them, they love us. We want to find something to do together, but it's not this."


For years, The Russo Brothers have been questioned about a possible return to the MCU for a Secret Wars movie, but they frequently provided evasive responses that were never a confirmation in any direction. They recently discussed how much they enjoyed Secret Wars, saying it was the "one series we adored growing up."

The Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four joined forces to fight an alien danger in Secret Wars, a twelve-issue limited series that was first published in 1984. Additionally, the symbiote known as Venom was introduced.

It's crucial to note that the two upcoming Avengers movies aren't expected to hit theatres until May 2 and November 7, respectively, in 2025. This implies that anything could change between now and then, but Feige and the Marvel team now have another strategy in place.

Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as well as The Multiverse Saga, which includes Phases 4, 5, and 6, will come to an end with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
