Report Claims Bot Accounts Led to Snyder Cut After 'Unwatchable' Original 'Justice League'
WarnerMedia, according to Rolling Stone, paid for research that showed "at least 13% of the accounts who participated in the discourse about the Snyder Cut were considered fraudulent."
Last year, social media fans gave birth to "Zack Snyder's Justice League," with July 19 serving as the movie's official digital release date. The #SnyderCut movement may have gone down a dark path before redeeming Zack Snyder's contributions to the DCEU and uniting to make the film a fan favourite "Oscar."
According to two reports that WarnerMedia commissioned regarding the #SnyderCut of "Justice League," which were made public by Rolling Stone, "at least 13 percent of the accounts that participated in the conversation about the Snyder Cut were deemed fake, far above the three to five percent that cyber experts say they typically see on any trending topic."
According to the report, WarnerMedia employed Q5id and Graphika, two social media monitoring firms, as part of an independent investigation that discovered there was a lot of "negative activity created by both real and fake authors" behind the hashtags #ReleaseTheSnyderCut and #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. The hashtag "Snyder Verse" had the most unreliable activity, according to reports.
In response to the social media findings, Snyder told Rolling Stone,
"As an artist, it was fulfilling to be able to finally see my vision realized after such a difficult time in my life and for it to be so well received. I am grateful to both the fan community and Warner Bros. for allowing this to happen. To dwell on negativity and rumors serves no one."
According to the source, after Snyder left the production after his daughter passed away, Warner Bros. hired Joss Whedon to supervise reshoots, rework the script, and recut the movie as a result of Snyder's original edit. After accusations of sexual misconduct, bigotry, and authoritarian directing duties, the "Justice League" reshoots from back in 2017 proved to be disastrous for the DCEU and brought about Joss Whedon's career reckoning.
According to the report, Warner Bros. executives were presented with Snyder's initial edit on February 27, 2017, and the presentation was regarded a "disaster" and a "full-on failure" by the production company. According to a source, Whedon was then brought on as a writer and consultant, providing suggestions on Snyder's second edit, which was submitted more than a week later. Unidentified source labelled the final edit as "unwatchable" and "joyless" after it was screened to Warner Bros. studio executives on May 5.
