DC is planning major changes to become more like Marvel Studio

According to reports, DC is planning major changes to become more like Marvel Studios.

DC trying to compete Marvel

Warner Bros. appears to be at least beginning to show hints of being on the right road with its DC franchises. In recent years, the studio's super-powered attempts on the big and small screens have been the brunt of numerous jokes; but, the tide is turning. More recent DC adaptations, such as The Batman, The Suicide Squad, and Peacemaker, have all received mainly excellent reviews, indicating that things may be going brighter.

And if this upward trend continues, DCEU supporters may finally have something to look forward to.

Audiences were subjected to mediocre production under the direction of filmmakers like David Ayer and Zack Snyder, an output that Warner Bros. is trying hard to alter.

In the past, Warner has tried to emulate Marvel Studios as closely as possible, establishing a common world of heroes that leads to collaboration projects. However, the studio did not take the time to flesh out that universe, leading to widespread criticism that the DCEU was rushed and lacked a unified vision.

As WB distances itself from previous practises, they appear to be stealing another page from their competitors' playbook, which may actually benefit them this time.

Marvel Studios is influencing Warner Bros.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is overhauling its DC entertainment vertical to more closely resemble competition Marvel Studios' methods.

According to sources, Warner Discovery CEO David Zaslav and senior executives are looking at combining their DC TV and movie projects into a single "solidified content vertical."

Instead of having DC TV projects under Warner Bros. Television and its motion picture endeavours under Warner Bros. Pictures Group, everything DC would be under one umbrella, similar to how Marvel Studios operates at Disney.According to reports, DC is planning major changes to become more like Marvel Studios. The decision to bring these disparate aspects together under one banner has been characterised as an attempt to "maximise the value of the [DC] superhero stable" in order to compete more effectively with Marvel.

Along with the unification of its diverse brands, the studio appears to be on the lookout for a leader to lead this new division. Emma Watts, a former executive at 20th Century Studios and Paramount, is said to have been approached by the company, but no agreement has been reached.

Despite the success of previous DC flicks, insiders say the brand needs a "coherent creative and brand strategy," therefore this is a clear attempt to address that problem.

For DC fans, news like this will provide a welcome break from the brand's almost decade-long slump. While there have been high points, Warner Bros.' superhero endeavours have seemed disconnected, with little success in weaving a cohesive tale across its productions.

This doesn't mean they have to recreate the MCU in its entirety, but it does indicate that they want to give the linked storyline idea another shot. They don't say it openly, but it's clear where Zaslav and the WB brass are aiming their guns.

The figurehead they're looking for will be the most important factor here. Kevin Feige is at the head of the MCU machine, which is why it functions as effectively as it does.

This employment decision might make or ruin the endeavour before it even begins. They appear to be searching for someone with strong business ability, but they will undoubtedly want someone who excels in the artistic realm as well. The nicest thing about Feige is that he is both a business savvy and a creative force to be reckoned with.

Perhaps Warner should take a Jobs/Wozniak two-pronged strategy.Hire someone like Watts to help with the business side, and then promote someone like Paul Dini, the creator of the DC Animated Universe, or Jay Olivia, the guy behind the DC Animated Universe. If these two operate well together, DC may find that this is the best path to go.
