The Watcher Statue is featured in the new Thor 4 trailer

Thor: Love and Thunder Watcher

Thor: Thunder and Love The film's second trailer has just been released, and it features some incredible new footage and context for Chris Hemsworth's impending sequel. Thor Odinson gets to flaunt his abs, Jane Foster gets to show off some killer new moves, and audiences all over the world get their first look at Gorr the God Butcher.

The film continues to showcase filmmaker Taika Watiti's quirky visual aesthetic and sense of humour, promising a wild trip that may even outshine Thor: Ragnarok. However, with a new trailer come newly discovered Easter Eggs.

There's a very enormous one in the background of this new teaser. One that could be the first step toward seeing the cosmic Uatu the Watcher make his way to the big screen.

Thor 4: The Watcher

Jane Foster's God of Thunder may be seen raising her hammer to the skies in the latest trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, summoning lightning.

Behind her are statues of several larger-than-life individuals who represent some of the Marvel Universe's Cosmic beings - the people that embody existence itself. Death, The Living Tribunal, Infinity, and Eon are among the characters.

However, one stands out above the rest: Uatu's The Watcher.

Yes, the same Watcher that appeared in What If...? and was played by Jeffery Wright.

As fans can see in the zoomed-in photo below, the statue bears an exact resemblance to the character:

Will The Watcher Join Us?

While The Watchers did appear during Stan Lee's cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it never felt like a proper introduction to the race. It appears to be a silly-fun sequence in which The Watchers were thrown in without much thinking (something potentially backed up by their absence from Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame).

However, it was clear that with What If...?, The Watchers, and particularly Uatu, were meant to be thrust into the spotlight, paving the way for a far more active role in the MCU's future.

So, what are the chances that Uatu will actually show up?Given his obligation to never meddle, the stakes would have to be sky-high for it to happen. So, while it's feasible, this monument will be the biggest nod fans will get.

If the anticipated Secret Wars is the next major Avengers or event picture, it would be a big enough set of circumstances for Jeffery Wright's observant observer to properly cross over from animation to live-action.

On July 8, Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theatres.
