Chris Hamsworth reveals his future after Thor: Love and Thunder
Is Chris Hamsworth leaving Marvel?
Thor: Love and Thunder is breaking records and making MCU history ahead of its July release, and it's not just because it's the first solo MCU hero to get a fourth film. Its first trailer was released just 82 days before the film's release date (a historically short marketing window), and it received the fourth-highest number of views of any trailer ever uploaded online.
Love and Thunder will not only be a ground-breaking fourth solo film, but it will also break barriers and set new standards for representation in comic book movies. Tessa Thompson will play King Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman's Jane Foster will play the new Thor in the MCU, in her first starring role in the franchise in nine years.Jane raising Mjolnir appears to be Marvel's way of phasing Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder out of the Avengers team, according to many. This, paired with the fact that the film's major villain is Gorr the God Butcher, has many fans wondering if Chris Hemsworth's Thor will survive his fourth MCU film.
Despite this, a well-respected industry insider claims that the MCU still has more Thor in store for fans.
Will Chris Hemsworth Return Following Thor: Ragnarok?
According to John Campea, a movie industry YouTuber, one of his sources claims that Chris Hemsworth's Thor will return to the MCU after Love and Thunder. On The John Campea Show, Campea was asked if he thinks Thor will die in Love and Thunder. Love and Thunder "ain't going to be the last time we see Chris Hemsworth as Thor, no," Campea claimed, adding that he "can't remember if (what he knows) came from a public source or a private source."
Campea went on to state that he "won't reveal why" he knows Thor will appear in a future Marvel production, hinting that he has insider knowledge about Thor's MCU future.
Is There a Future for Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Granted, Campea's assertion is nothing more than a YouTuber's remark in advance of a major summer film.Despite this, there has been no public indication that Thor will make another Marvel film after Love and Thunder. If John Campea has heard anything about Thor's possible future in the MCU, it must have come from one of his industry sources.
Many fans may recall that Campea is a reliable source of Marvel movie information. Most recently, the geeky genius took to Twitter to mock what he thought was a doctored set shot from Spider-Man: No Way Home, but he had no idea he was sharing the first ever image of Sony's three Spider-Men together with the rest of the world.
When Campea recently tweeted that he had the opportunity to get a finished look at Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder when there had been no official footage of Christian Bale's villain revealed to date, it was further proof that he may have an inside source on the film. That post was later deleted, similar to how Campea handled his Spider-Man gaffe last autumn; however, he reaffirmed a day later on The John Campea Show that his company had seen footage of Gorr that made them "quite delighted."
If Campea is correct about Thor being in the MCU, it might be due to the fact that the fight that begins in Love and Thunder may not be over by the end of the film.Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher could pose a more serious threat than Thor's previous two series bad men, allowing Chris Hemsworth's hero to be used for at least one more film.
Alternatively, Thor staying put might imply he takes on an Odin-like role and is accessible to help Jane Foster's Mighty Thor whenever she needs him. He might also repurpose Stormbreaker and assume Heimdall's previous function as Asgard's Guardian and Gatekeeper, or he could assume the role of King Thor if Valkyrie tyres of ruling the realm. If Thor makes it through another film, the possibilities are boundless.
