Gaspar Noé asks if ‘America is turning so stupid’ Marvel must ‘represent their minds’

Image
Director Gaspar Noé has harshly criticised Marvel films, questioning whether they are "stupidifying" audiences. In a new interview with The Independent, the celebrated French-Argentine filmmaker, best known for his 2002 film Irreversible starring Monica Bellucci and Vincent Cassel, discussed current filmmaking. "It's like the question, did Hitler create Nazi Germany or did Nazi Germany create Hitler? Noé stated." Do you believe that the Marvel movies are making Americans stupid, or that America as a whole is becoming so stupid that such stupid movies are needed to represent their minds?" Noé is a controversial filmmaker who received backlash for presenting a rape scene in his film Irreversible that lasted over ten minutes. Noé also discussed the recent success of his 2015 film Love, which drew massive numbers on Netflix when it was reintroduced to the streaming service in 2020. "The audience is made up of humans who need to masturbate," Noé said o

Why is Thor: 4 Most Important Phase 4 Film for Marvel

Image
No phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever compared to Phase 4 of the MCU in its fourteen-year history. Despite the fact that it only started in January 2021, it already boasts a slate of five theatrical features, five live-action Disney+ series, and the animated What If...? Apart from Ms. Marvel on Disney+, Chris Hemsworth's fourth solo MCU film, Thor: Love and Thunder, is the next project on the horizon. Despite the fact that Phase 4 has been an embarrassment of riches in terms of content, one of the main fan complaints has been the lack of interwoven storyline, which is a Marvel Studios trademark. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was widely expected to serve as the thesis for the MCU's Multiverse Saga and the connecting thread amongst its diverse slate of projects. However, when this was not the case, many became dissatisfied and even questioned whether there was a strategy in place this time. Given the current promotion for Thor: Love and Thunder, it app

Thor Love and Thunder: Director Taika Waititi Reveals Jane Foster’s ‘Mighty Thor’ Fighting Style

Marvel Studios is putting the last touches on filmmaker Taika Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder, the second of three MCU films set to hit theatres this year. The MCU now has a fascinating new story to tackle on Earth and throughout the cosmos, with both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman's heroes taking up the mantle of Thor. After a nine-year absence, the studio has finally released the second full trailer for Thor 4, offering fans a taste of what Portman will be up to now that she's proven herself worthy of wielding Mjolnir. Even though this does not imply that Jane will permanently assume the role of Thor, her impact will be felt immediately as she reunites with her ex-boyfriend in this new standalone drama. Of course, just because two characters share the same mantle doesn't imply they'll battle in the same method, which goes beyond Hemsworth's Stormbreaker hero and Portman's Mjolnir worth. The sequel's director recently revealed more information abo

Marvel Star Will Poulter Says Superhero Body Transformations Are 'Unhealthy' and 'Unrealistic'

Image
Source: Twitter Will Poulter, one of the MCU's newest actors, has stated that getting a superhuman physical change without a studio paying for your meals and training is "unhealthy" and "unrealistic." In a recent interview with The Independent, he said, "It's difficult to talk about it because with Marvel it's all secret squirrel." "However, the most important thing is that your mental and physical wellness come first, with aesthetic aspirations coming second." If you don't have the financial backing of a studio to pay for your meals and training, you'll wind up advocating something unhealthy and unrealistic. In that regard, I'm in a really fortunate position, and I wouldn't advise someone to prepare for that job the way I did." What is this job that Poulter is referring to? His role as Adam Warlock, a genetically engineered superhuman in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 film, which will be released next year. La

Doctor Strange 2 Writer Discusses Nightmare's Role In Original Script

Image
After a disturbing development, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally in cinemas and making an influence on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sequel, which arrived in cinemas a year after its scheduled release date, offered a Multiversal epic that was radically different from what Marvel Studios had in mind. Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson quit the post for Doctor Strange 2, and Marvel finally brought in Spider-Man trilogy filmmaker Sam Raimi to fill the position. Then came the global pandemic, which pushed the film's release date and forced Marvel to adjust several of its story aspects as well as its place in the Phase 4 chronology. One of the most significant developments occurred in the villain category, with Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch following a darker route than anybody thought by becoming Doctor Strange 2's major nemesis. Following the film's theatrical premiere, the film's chief writer commented on a character that was origin

Will Chris Hemsworth's Thor be replaced by Natalie Portman? Marvel Director Responds

Image
Marvel fans will finally get to see Thor Odinson in Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder, after three years, six Disney+ programmes, and five theatrical blockbusters. While it's true that Thor 4 promotion is still in its early stages, what the studio has released thus far has been remarkably insightful, particularly in terms of Chris Hemsworth's Thor's current state and the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster as Mighty Thor. For example, the first trailer reveals that Thor is doing some soul searching and may be on the edge of retirement. Jane as Mighty Thor carrying a reforged Mjolnir was shown in the teaser. While the second teaser for Thor 4 revealed more of Chris Hemsworth's Thor, the same cannot be said for Jane and her new forceful identity. Because of these revelations, as well as the fact that Love and Thunder is Hemsworth's fourth MCU solo film, fans have speculated whether Natalie Portman will be the MCU's next Thor. Now that the second t

A live-action Ghost Rider series was also in the works under Jeph Loeb's Marvel Television branch, however it was cancelled before it could premiere owing to Marvel TV's demise and Marvel Studios' takeover. The reason for the project's halt was reportedly owing to Marvel Studios' intentions for the character in the MCU, and rumours say that a Ghost Rider-focused film has been in development since 2020. The rumour mill around Ghost Rider appears to be heating up once more. Scooper Charles Murphy claimed in a now-deleted tweet that Marvel has chosen an actor to play Ghost Rider in the MCU. New Picture Teases Theories on Luke Cage & Jessica Jones’ MCU Return

Image
Over the course of Phase 4, the MCU is becoming more expansive than ever, finally integrating characters who initially appeared in Marvel TV's old Netflix episodes from a few years ago. In the same week, Charlie Cox's Daredevil appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin was revealed to be Hawkeye's main antagonist in Episodes 5 and 6. Now, Netflix's biggest power couple, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, could be next in line. When asked about the potential of these two heroes' solo series being revived and made canon within the MCU, Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige cited his trademark slogan "never say never." Furthermore, given how much fans adored Mike Colter and Krysten Ritter's portrayals of the two characters, their inclusion in the canon MCU cannot be ruled out.
